Diego Ibarra shot a 78 the first day, he tied with another young man from Alexander who shot the same score which put these 2 boys tied for 2nd place behind the boys from St. Augustine who shot a 75 on day 1. Joe Ojeda shot a 104, 110, Ralph Maldonado Jr. shot a 130,116, Bernabe Baltazar shot a 119,114, Carlos Baca shot a 122,121 and our Medalist-Eddie Castillo shot a 145,138. The boys finished 6th overall in the tournament.
Diego Ibarra was then tied with another young player from Alexander for the 5th place overall spot in the tournament. They both took off to hole 18 and played their playoff hole for the 5th place medal. Diego hit the fairway and was able to get on the green in regulation to par the hole and beat his opponent by one stroke, taking the 5th place individual medal out of 60 players and medalists.

CC Winn Boys golf team made their appearance at the Nixon Boys Invitational Jan. 12-13 at The Max Mandel Golf Course in Laredo Texas. With 12 teams competing and several medalist also taking the stage at the Max. The Mavericks were paired up with Alexander, EPHS and Uvalde for the first day. With cool weather in the forecast, the boys had a 30 minute delay due to frost.
