Bridge traffic continued to increase in 2017

The Eagle Pass Bridge System has reported that the total amount of crossings in 2017 surpassed 2016 by a whopping 33,868. 2017 saw 3,467,327 crossings, a significant rise from 2016 which had 3,433,459 total crossings. 

 These crossings include cars and pickups, 18 wheeler trucks, buses, motorcycles and pedestrian crossings.

The increase signifies a 0.9 percent increase from 2016 to 2017.

Fiscal year 2017 had 2,628,256 car and pick up crossings alone. The activity  as compared to 2016 was a 2 percent increase.  

Commercial traffic also increased by 36,154 more commercial trucks going from 127,919 in 2014 to 164,073 in 2017 or 28.2 percent increase.     

 Traffic crossings through the Eagle Pass Bridge system have been increasing, but  2017 has had the lowest increase in car and pickup crossings as compared to any other year including 2016, 2015, and 2014. Commercial traffic however has increased by 28 percent when compared to 2014 totals. 

Pedestrian crossings have decreased on a yearly basis going from 741,387 in 2014, 700,154 in 2015, 703,710 during 2016 and 667,611 in 2017. There has been a decrease of 36,099 pedestrian crossings in 2017 as compared to 2016.
