This position has been vacated due to the fact that Attorney Ricardo Ramos registered to run for 293rd District Judge on Thursday, December, 7 2017 which resulted in his automatic resignation under the Resign to Run rule. Ramos will remain in the position until Commissioners Court appoints a replacement.

During the citizens communication, two local attorney’s presented themselves in front of the court and requested that they be considered for the position. 

Attorney Edgar Juarez addressed the court and requested that they seriously consider naming him to the county attorney position . “I am seeking that the court consider appointing me to serve as your next Maverick County Attorney. I believe that I’m the best qualified candidate and hope that you take me into consideration,” said Juarez. 

Another attorney that expressed his interest to be considered by the Commissioners Court for the position was attorney J.A. Iracheta.

Ramos addressed Commissioners Court, thanking the court and citizens for allowing him to serve as their legal counsel for so long. 

“As you are well aware I did sign up as a candidate for the position of 293rd District Judge.” 

Ramos explained to the court that his decision to run for another position triggered an automatic resignation, but that he will remain in the position until Commissioners Court appoints someone new. 

Maverick County Judge David R. Saucedo thanked Ramos for his time spent serving the public and wished him the best in his new endeavors.
