Press Release

It is getting, “Texas Cold” out there, and the stray pet population at local pounds need warm hearts. Local animal advocacy group, Project COMPANION, is asking the community for new or gently used blankets or towels, dog and cat food to benefit shelter pets during the colder months. With the help of kind citizens, Project COMPANION raised 470 lbs. of pet food and over 130 blankets at last year’s drive. The haul was split between the County and City Pet Holding Facilities.

“We would like to invite individuals,  families, businesses, civic groups or sports teams to come out and join our efforts to help these pets in need,” stated President Daniela Flores-Aleman, “…Eagle Pass is full of generous people, and we know they will provide what they can to help.”

Project COMPANION will be at BBVA Compass Bank Saturday, December 9th from 10am -2pm to collect items, and would like to extend a great big thank you to Compass Bank for allowing the group to set up on the premises.

Project COMPANION is a local non-profit animal advocacy group that focuses on providing information and access to low cost Spay and Neutering services in order to decrease animal euthanasia and diminish the animal overpopulation in Maverick County.  In addition, ProCo promotes shelter adoption and provides animal friendly activities for pets and their families. The group is solely volunteer-based and are able to accomplish their goals through grant funding, donations, and fundraisers.
