A good crowd was on hand for the contest.
Juan “JC” Castillas dropped 23 points followed by Eduardo Aranda with 20. Other Mavericks in the scoring column included Guillermo Gaytan with seven, Jose Rueda scored six points, Karlos Martinez five, Eliab Chavez four and Daniel Ontiveros four.
"Karlos Martinez and Juan “Frankie” Morales did a good job on the boards along with Thomas Lopez. Eduardo Nava also gave us contributions at both ends of the floor" added Sanchez.
"We did get out to a bit of a slow start. It was a 13-6 affair at the end of the 1st quarter. Then, the Mavs got into some good ball movement predicated by our defense that gave us a 27-12 run of the 2nd quarter. We were up 40-18 at the break."
In the second halftone Mavericks stayed aggressive and a bit conservative.
"We did miss some shots in the second half that were dropping in the first half," concluded the coach, "We are please of the result of the first game but as we talked about after words, but we don’t want to be satisfied."
