Former Maverick County Judge and current Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustee Rudy Bowles has thrown his name into the race for the position of Maverick County Judge, currently held by Judge David R. Saucedo.

Bowles filed his paperwork and took his oath to run in the 2018 March Democratic Primary on Saturday November 11, 2017.

Bowles states that he is excited at the opportunity to be able to bid for the position of County Judge.

At present time Bowles is an EPISD Board member, and under the guides of the Texas Association of School Boards and the Texas Constitution Section 65 Chapter 11 does not have to resign his position as EPISD Trustee, as the Resign to Run Provision is not applicable to Bowles’ current position.

Under the Texas Constitution, a school board trustee is not required to resign from his or her current office to be a candidate for another office. However, if Bowles was to be elected he would have to vacate his seat on the school board to occupy the County Judge position.

Bowles will be going up against Gloria Hernandez and Incumbent Maverick County Judge David R. Saucedo in the March 2018 Democratic Primary.

Saucedo will be filing his candidacy this Friday.
