Lady Eagles play hard vs LBJ, South San

On Friday, October 6th, Iza Mancha-Jimenez' Eagle Pass Lady Eagle Volleyball squad hosted the LBJ Lady Wolves in what was a very close and highly competitive District 29-AAAAAA match where the visitors came away with a razor-sharp 20-25, 22-25 and 24-26 victory from the claws of the Burnt Orange and white.

Junior Defensive Specialist Josie Garcia paved the way for the Lady Eagles by getting down on the floor and turning in 12 big digs. Junior Defensive Specialist Natalie Martinez also had a busy day with eleven.

Junior Setter Larissa Moyeda contributed 11 sets, one kill, three digs and six serves. Junior Setter Bianca Camarillo had 12 sets five digs and 12 serves. Junior Right Side Hitter Ashley Garcia had three sets, two blocks, five big kills a dig and ten serves for a good overall performance.

Sophomore Outside Hitter Sophie Gonzalez led the way for Eagle Pass with six kills five digs and seven serves offensively. Senior Middle Blocker had three kills and four blocks. Junior Outside Hitter Aleanna Torres contributed seven kills, a dig and eight serves in a strong offensive game.

Junior Libero Keila Contreras had 10 digs and 16 serves in the match.

Then on Tuesday, October 10th, the Lady Eagles traveled to the Alamo City to take on the ever pesky South San Lady Bobcats there.

The Lady Eagles fell in another hotly contested match 20-25, 21-25 & 15-25.

Moyeda led the way in sets with eleven and also had one kill, nine digs and nine serves. Keila Contreras filled the stat sheet with an amazing 27 digs a kill and seven serves. Junior Middle Blocker Emily Medina had two kills three big blocks and two sets while Aleanna Torres had five kills six digs and nine serves.

Senior Middle Blocker Ashley Barrientos had four kills to her credit and Sophie Gonzalez turned in three kills on seven tries, one dig and six serves. Ashley Garcia had five kills three digs and nine serves while Sophie Rodriguez had five kills, four blocks and two digs.

Nataly Martinez had an incredible 22 digs, one kill and five serves in the loss.

The Lady Eagles take on Laredo United South tomorrow night at the SAC.
