During the recognition portion of the meeting the EPISD Board recognized all campus principals in accordance to a proclamation naming the month of October Principals Month by Texas Governor Greg Abbott. 

“As school leaders , principals are entrusted with our most valuable resource, our next generation of leaders. These students are our promise for the future , and it’s crucial that they receive a rigorous and well rounded education. Principals are more than just caretakers of our schools, principals are expected to be educational leaders, disciplinarians, community builders, spokesmen, budget analysis and guardians of policy mandates and initiatives. Principals set the academic tone for their schools and work collaboratively with teachers to set performance objectives and maintain high curriculum standards,” wrote Abbott.  

Also at the meeting, the school district acknowledged the efforts of their Human Resources Department in celebration of Texas Education Human Resources Day: October 10, 2017. 

Henry B. Gonzalez Elementary was also recognized for being selected as the most clean and maintained campus for the month of September 2017.
