The project is under the guidance of Lowe’s Shift Manager Lucero De La Cruz and Associate Eddie Pina who attended the center as a child. The project is an effort between many Lowe’s employees and volunteers that belong to the Youth Center Program.
De La Cruz explained that updates to the building include paint, restroom renovations, new tile, and roofing repairs.
“The Youth Center was chosen because we want to help the kids of our community,”said Rosa. “This year the Lowe’s Heroes Program is volunteering our time and skills to brighten up the Eagle Pass Youth Center Facility.”
Work on the facility began last week and is expected to be finished within the following days.
Youth Center Director Alfonso Mallen and members of the center are appreciative of Lowe’s for everything they’re doing to upgrade the building.
“We’re so grateful for what Lowe’s is doing for us. It’s something that we can never repay,” said Mallen. “We have been in need of a renovation for years and God has answered our prayers.”
The outside of the Youth Center building will be receiving a renovation in the near future as well.
The Lowe’s Heroes Program is a company wide initiative that offers Lowe’s employees an opportunity to work on a project in their neighborhood to help the community become a better place to live, work, and play.
