Eagles travel to Nike South XC meet; Kowalski places 13th with a strong 16:02

     The Eagle Pass Cross Country Team traveled to The Woodlands to participate in the Nike South Cross Country Meet last weekend.

    Nathan Kowalski turned in a very strong 16:02 at the highly competitive meet to place 13th. Sergio Hernandez ran a 16:34, Ryan Rodriguez ran a 17:25, Homar Perez came in right behind with a 17:35 just ahead of Sebastian Villarreal and Jose Lugo who also both broke 17 minutes in a field of 196 runners

     In the girl's division Shanya Luna placed 28th with a 19:35, while Monica Rivera clocked in right behind with an equally impressive 19:36. One second was the difference in two places as she came in 30th. Andrea Garcia ran a 20:44 while Jackeline Garza came in with a 20:44, Ana Cristina Alvarez and Karina Fernandez both broke 22 minutes in the field of 183 runners.

     The boys placed 13th as a team, with The Woodlands coming out on top with 38 points. The Woodlands College Park placed second with 81 and Flower Mound came in third with 97.

     The girls placed 9th as a team with Flower Mound coming in first, with 81 points just ahead of Flower Mound Marcus with 87 and The Woodlands College Park with 193 points.

     According to Coach Juan Gonzalez their next meet will be the District 29-AAAAAA Meet at Casablanca in Laredo on October 14.
