Ms. Hernández is the proud mother of two sons: Jose Arturo Bruno, married to Melinda (Merritt) Bruno and Carlos Eduardo Bruno, married to Jennifer (Thompson) Bruno. She has been blessed with four grandchildren, Christopher Carlos, Jordan Elizabeth, Reese Isabel, and Ava Marie Bruno. They live in Wylie and McKinney, Texas.

   Ms. Hernández was born in Piedras Negras, Mexico, after her elementary school years there, became resident of Eagle Pass and a citizen of the United States of America. She graduated from Eagle Pass High School; received a B.A. from Texas State University; a Masters in Bilingual Education from Sul Ross State University; a Juris Doctorate from Thurgood Marshall School of Law; and a Texas law license.

  Ms. Hernández was a teacher at EPISD from 1975-1989. She received her state bar license in 1992. She has been a solo practitioner in Houston and Eagle Pass. She was appointed City Attorney for City of Eagle Pass from 2000 through 2002. For over four years, she developed legal strategy to lead the majority of the Kickapoo Tribe to remedy civil rights concerns culminating in change of government in October 2002. As General Counsel to the Tribe spent a huge emphasis in nation building, creating solid democratic socio-governmental structures to promote a healthy society in all aspects. Almost thirteen years later, the leadership and Ms. Hernandez no longer shared the same vision and goals and her work with the Tribe terminated. She has been in private practice since then.

   Ms. Hernandez currently holds the elected position of Member of the City Council, Place #1 for the City of Eagle Pass.
