Maverick County approves proposed budget for 2017-2018 fiscal year

The Maverick County Commissioners approved the proposal to lower their tax rate by 2 cents per every $100 valuation going from $0.5437 to $0.5238. 

This change would generate a projected $19,388,837.11 in revenue as compared to the previous year which brought in $16,909,849. These numbers are based on several factors including the tax rate collection, sales taxes, appraisal roll value increases, as well as revenue from use of assets and miscellaneous revenue which are now part of the proposed county budget. 

The County’s decrease in property taxes is offset by the increase in the property value of the county as a total:$150,000,000. 

Changes in the budget will include increases in salaries for some county employees.  Not included were the majority of the department heads including the County Judge, County Clerk, District Clerk, Sheriff , Commissioners, Justices of the Peace, Tax Assessor Collector, County Auditor and District Judges.

The Road and Bridge Department Superintendent will receive an increase in pay of approximately $14,000, bringing the salary to $58,000 plus 24,171 in fringe benefits for a total of $82,171. 

The County Judge’s salary will remain at $ 50,000 plus $19,020 in fringe benefits for a total of $69,020, in addition to supplemental pay, and a cellphone and vehicle allowance. The judge’s secretary will receive $28,446 with $13,847 in fringe benefits totaling $43,293, and his administrative assistant will receive $35,380 plus $16,186 in fringe benefits totaling $51,566. 

The Human Resources Department Director will receive an adjustment of $1,885 or a 3.8 percent increase, while his secretary will have a decrease in pay, but could receive adjustments in fringe benefits. The majority of the employees are scheduled to receive a pay increase of up to 5 percent.  

The County Clerk will not receive a raise, and will remain at $50,000 with $19,020 in fringe benefits totaling $69,020: approximately the same amount as the County Judge, but less than District Judges and Road and Bridge Superintendent. Employees in the Clerk’s office received a minimal increase in salary wages. Almost all other employees will receive a variation of an increase up to 5 percent as proposed by Maverick County Judge David Saucedo and approved by the Maverick County Commissioners Court. 

The County will be setting its budget from a proposed revenue income that has been presented and is currently being worked on, and must be finalized before September 30. 

 

 

Comisionados aprueban reducir tasa de impuestos

   Los Comisionados del Condado de Maverick aprobaron la propuesta de reducir su tasa de impuestos en  2 centavos por cada valor  de $100, pasando de $ 0.5437 a $ 0.5238. Este cambio generaría un ingreso proyectado de $19,388,837.11 en comparación con el año anterior, lo que generó $16,909,849.    El Condado establecerá su presupuesto  en el que se está trabajando actualmente y debe ser finalizado antes del 30 de septiembre.

   Entre los cambios notables en las perspectivas presupuestarias del condado para este próximo año fiscal está la tasa  de impuestos que el Juez David Saucedo propuso y fue finalmente aprobada. 

   La reducción de impuestos  se compensa con el aumento de más de $150,000,000 en el valor de la propiedad a los registros de tasación en todo el Condado de Maverick.

 Los cambios en el presupuesto tambien incluirán un aumento en el salario para la mayoría de los empleados.  

   Este aumento de sueldo  no incluyó a todos los Jefes de Departament. Uno de los puestos que está programado para recibir un aumento en el salario de aproximadamente $14,000 está en el Departamento de Caminos y Puentes ya que se espera que el Superintendente gane $58,000 más $24,171 en beneficios adicionales por un total de $82,171.

  El salario del Juez del Condado se fija para permanecer en la misma tarifa de $50,000 más $19,020  en beneficios adicionales para un total de $69,020, la secretaria ganará $28,446 con $13,847 en beneficios adicionales  en total $ 43,293 y el ayudante administrativo que gana $35,380 más $16,186 en  beneficios  con un total a $51,566.

  En el Departamento de Recursos Humanos, su Director está programado para recibir un ajuste de $1,885 o un aumento de 3.8 por ciento mientras que su secretario está teniendo una reducción en el pago, pero podría estar teniendo un ajuste en los beneficios. 

   La mayoría de los empleados están programados para recibir un aumento salarial de hasta el 5 por ciento.

   La posición del Secretario del Condado no recibirá un aumento y permanecerá en $50,000 con $19,020 en beneficios complementarios por un total de $69,020. 

 Los empleados de la oficina de County Clerk recibieron un aumento mínimo en los salarios.
