Monday marks the sixteenth anniversary of 9/11, and places in the United Sates and around the world are planning tributes to the victims of the terror attacks that claimed nearly 3,000 lives.

People in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania lost their lives on 9/11 in attacks carried out with hijacked airplanes by terrorists orchestrated by Osama bin Laden.

A September 11 memorial will be held Monday morning in honor of those killed in the tragedy that occurred 16 years ago.

More than 300 firefighters and paramedics were killed on 9/11 and the Eagle Pass Fire Department will be on hand to pay its respects to those fallen heroes.

The event will be held at International Bridge No. 2 on Monday morning and all law enforcement and military personnel are encouraged to attend.
