Phenomenal Ballerz recognized during City Council meeting

The Eagle Pass City Council presented a proclamation honoring the City’s youth basketball team, the Phenomenal Ballerz for their outstanding efforts, sportsmanship and accomplishments in the past months. 

During the City Council meeting held on Tuesday, August 1, Mayor Ramsey E. Cantu recognized the team. 

“Throughout the year the Phenomenal Ballerz Varsity and Junior Varsity Basketball teams [have been some] of the most athletic teams at the Eagle Pass Youth Center. The Team composed of Joey Padilla, David Moreno, Carlos De Luna, Heriberto (Eddie ) Morales III, Cesar Canunga, Ralph Olivares, Luis Zacarias, Carlos Tijerina, Ricardo Morales, Ernesto Aguinao, Jesus Hernandez, Jose Luna and Coach Luis Padilla have participated in the NTBA early qualifiers in San Antonio during March, and were successful in winning the tournament and representing the city of Eagle Pass and the youth of our community in a positive manner,” read Cantu.  “With this accomplishment the Phenomenal Ballerz qualified to attend a tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina sanctioned by the National Traveling Basketball Association.” 

The Eagle Pass City Council congratulated the team and wished them the best of luck on their tournament.

“I do hereby proclaim the Phenomenal Ballerz Varsity and Junior Varsity squad from the Eagle Pass Youth Club as Ambassadors of Goodwill for the City of Eagle Pass, and I urge all of our citizens in this community to join me in expressing our congratulations and pride for their achievement,” said Cantu.
