Press Release

The Eagle Pass Police Department Grievance Board held a hearing regarding suspended Eagle Pass Police Officer Raul Gonzalez.

Gonzalez was relieved of his duties in early 2017 after an incident involving himself and another EPFD Officer came to light and an accusation of abuse of authority and use of excessive force was made by a female resident who was detained by the arresting officers, Gonzalez and Eric Romero back in November 2016. Officer Gonzalez is a 15 year veteran with the EPPD and was even promoted to Sergeant back in April of 2013. The hearing taking place is part of the City of Eagle Pass Civil Service procedures which were voted on and approved during May 7,2016. Gonzalez was an advocate for the push to install a civil service plan in our community and is a member of the Eagle Pass Police Officers Association. The hearing to determine Gonzalez's issue is expected to last up to three days or more if necessary.
