Press Release:

Local citizens have been receiving telephone calls from persons allegedly representing electric service providers in

Eagle Pass, Texas. These persons are using intimidation tactics in an attempt to have citizens pay a particular amount utilizing “MoneyPak” cards and other types of debit cards to pay these amounts. Citizens are told that if the amounts are not paid immediately their electrical services will be terminated.
These telephone calls are false and are affecting local citizens in our community. The conversations take place in the Spanish language and there is no one available to explain in English. They are originating in an unknown location and utilize a “1-800” style number.
If you should receive a telephone call like this please hang up and immediately call your electric service provider to verify the situation. If you are informed by your electric service provider that this is a false scenario, please call and report these incidents to the Eagle Pass Police Department at (830) 773-9044 (non-emergency line).
