The Eagle Pass Police Department reported that from June 1 to June 28, there were 100 motor vehicle accidents, 28 of them hit and run accidents, averaging to approximately 3.5 accidents per day.
A review of the Maverick County District Clerks case files shows that from June 20 to July 12, 2017, there have been 23 personal injury auto lawsuits filed in both the 293rd and 365th Judicial District Court. That averages to approximately 1 personal injury auto lawsuit per day.
A further review was done on 12 months of District Court records, counting every personal injury auto lawsuit filed from July 12, 2016 to July 12, 2017.
In total there were 208 personal injury auto lawsuits filed within that time period, accounting for 17 percent of the entire cases filed through the District Court in the 12 month period during which 1,224 cases were filed.
