During the course of the presentation Phi Theta Kappa President Amanda Martinez addressed the board and stated that the group wanted to present the board information on the work that was done st the Glass Elementary library.
“We did the project to benefit the kids and the community,” said Martinez. “We believe that it’s important to read and have the sufficient resources to have access to books.”
Martinez and the school board proceeded to discuss the needs of many students, and how a remodeled library would help to meet some of those needs.
“For children in elementary schools it’s crucial for them to expand their reading.”
The Board presented the group with a plaque of appreciation and thanked them for there volunteerism and assistance in remodeling the elementary library.
The Board and EPISD also spoke of potentially continuing with such project in the near future.
