The money raised will go to supporting more than 20 dogs waiting to be adopted, and will help the organization continue to rescue animals and provide them with medical care.
“Most of the dogs we rescue tend to have medical conditions so we have to take them to the vet, we have to get them treated, vaccinations, spayed and neutered, so we spend at least, for a healthy dog, about $100; but we’ll rescue a dog that’s run over by a car that needs surgery and it could go all the way up to $500,” said Founder Sandra Tovar. “We’re definitely going to make this a regular thing throughout the summer. Everybody has a little something at home that they want to get rid of, and we thought it would be a good idea to get some of the stuff and bring it here to raise funds.”
The public is encouraged to make donations to help support the organization’s efforts.
“Any items they no longer use we ask to donate them to the foundation so we can sell them here and hopefully raise some more funds,” said Tovar. “At any of our events, if you want to donate food, money, anything. Any kind of donation that anybody makes to our foundation helps so much.”
The Buddy Foundation is very grateful for the support the community has showed them which has helped them to rescue approximately 200 dogs in just under a year of being founded.
“We just want to thank everybody here in Eagle Pass,” said Tovar. “I think they follow what we do and they know everything we do, we do with our hearts, and we’re not going to stop anytime soon.”
