Paint The Town Project celebrated their 109th event on Saturday, December 8, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Maverick County Lake. There were over 45 volunteers who continue the group's ongoing efforts of eliminating unsightly graffiti taggings as well as retouching parts of the fencing as needed. Student volunteers came from Sul Ross Rio Grande College, Eagle Pass and C.C. Winn High Schools, Memorial and Eagle Pass Junior High Schools. Students also came from elementary campuses which included Liberty, Benavides, Cerna, Robert E Lee, and Reedemer Episcopal School. In addition, there were several Girl Scout troops, as well as parent volunteers, and also helping was a volunteer from the U.S. Navy. This was the final event for U.S. Border Patrol Community Liaison Agent Yamilka Patterson. For the past two years through her hard work has succeeded in recruiting and organizing event benefiting the entire community. The volunteers thanked her with a cake and wished her well, as she continues with the U.S. Border Patrol in a different capacity.
