The City of Eagle Pass holds annual 5K

The City of Eagle Pass held the annual 5K Race on Sunday July 2, in which many individuals young and old participated. 

The race was hosted by the Eagle Pass Parks and Recreation Department and the Mayor’s Fitness Council as part of its annual Fourth of July kick-off celebration and to promote healthier lifestyles in the community.

 The event was hosted by Recreation Supervisor Juan Cuellar and Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey E. Cantu who was present at the race finish lines to present the winners with medals during the award ceremony.  

Mayor Cantu congratulated all participants and recognized the dedication of those to stay fit and race ready. 

 After everyone had finished the race, Cantu and Cuellar presented the winners in their respective categories including overall, 1K and 5K runs, different age adult and youth categories as well.

 The top 3 female runners in the 5 K run were Gwendelen Perez with a time of 28.33, Gloria Morales with 28.01, and overall winner with a time of 26.12 was Miriam Rodriguez. 

 In the male category the top three finishers were Oscar Mendoza with 21.46, Luis Vielma with 20.58 and the male winner and overall fastest time went to Yosio Limon with a time of 19 minutes and 15 seconds.  

The City also presented a trophy recognizing the most spirited and most participating school which went to Eagle Pass Junior High School.
