The City of Eagle Pass held a ceremony Wednesday, June 14 to celebrate Flag Day.

C.C. Winn Student Council, VFW, and students from the City’s Summer Youth Program helped honor the symbol of United States.
Also present were Mayor Ramsey English Cantu, City manager Arturo Rodriguez, Chief of Staff Ivan Morua, Junior Vice Commander Diana Cruz, Post Commander Facundo Ibarra, Veterans Service Officer Ismael Castillo, Boy Scout Troop Leader Oscar Aguirre, Veteran Raul Ticon, Senior Vice Commander Antonio Ramos, Post Commander Anthony Ramirez, and Veteran Lewis Williams.
Mayor Cantu spoke of the importance of the flag, and how happy he was to see so many people in attendance, especially younger Eagle Pass residents.
“It is an honor to be here not only as your mayor but as a proud citizen of this great country in which we celebrate our flag here today with all of our great members of our community, especially those of our veterans who have fought for our country in order for us to enjoy our freedoms that we so enjoy today,” said Cantu. “Today we celebrate one of the most important and first symbols of this great country. Old glory, this flag, which we honor and serve under, is an emblem of our unity, our power, our thoughts and purpose as a nation. Today in a unity across the nation americans will have the opportunity to honor the flag and to thank the men and women who have served our country in uniform.”
