CC Winn High's two-time Regional Qualifier Diego Ibarra had to fight back on the back nine in order to catch Reagan's Raul Gutierrez at the 2017 Junior PGA kickoff at the Republic Golf Club in San Antonio on

Wednesday, June 7.
Ibarra birdied 10 and eagled 11 to bring himself to even par and shot a 35 coming in to catch Gutierrez with an overall 73 to tie for first and force a one-hole sudden-death playoff.
Fortunately for the crowd that gathered to watch the playoff, there was nothing 'sudden' about it. Ibarra put his second shot on the Par 3 10th six feet from the pin to Gutierrez's 22, but the Rattler junior drilled the 22-footer for his par to halve the hole.
Diego put his third shot two feet from the pin on the Par 5 11th, but Gutierrez chipped in for birdie to halve the hole sending it to three more holes, the Par 4 12th, the Par 3 13th and the Par 4 14th which both players proceeded to par.
Gutierrez parred the Par 5 15th while Ibarra's drive found the rough which cost him the hole and the championship as he bogies the sixth playoff hole, taking second place and 300 big points toward the South Texas Junior PGA Championship at The Woodlands in August.
