Press release

The City of Eagle Pass, TX, launched its new Business & Economic Development Initiative at a kick-off luncheon on May 25, 2017.

Over 80 business and community leaders representing a cross-section of industry attended the kick-off. Initiative organizers, EMC Strategy Group, LLC, provided a detailed presentation on the plans to form an advisory committee that will include leaders in academia, auto-dealers, business, construction, development, financial services, gaming, government, healthcare, legal, nonprofits, and many more.

“We are very pleased with the demonstration of support that we are receiving for this new business & economic development initiative,” says Eagle Pass City Manager Art Rodriguez. “From the beginning, our team has been focused on bringing talented professional people together to form collaborative efforts to strengthen the local economic conditions of Eagle Pass,” adds Rodriguez.

The initiative’s team has been working aggressively behind the scenes to organize the Eagle Pass Business & Economic Development Initiative Advisory Committee. The city’s new business & economic development and government relations consultants, Janice M. Gonzalez and Ernie Gonzalez, are serving as the professional staff advisors for the initiative. Janice Gonzalez formally served as the Business & Economic Development Director for the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, where she worked with local, state, and federal agencies along with business and industry to grow and support business and economic conditions in the largest border community in the nation. The Gonzalez duo are registered state and federal lobbyist and formally worked for the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate in Washington, DC. They represent several South Texas municipalities and nonprofits and have served border communities for over 20 years.

The Eagle Pass Business & Economic Development Advisory Committee is quickly and methodically coming together. EMC held a conference call with prospective committee members on June 2 to identify the committee’s organizational structure and the committee job descriptions. The new initiative will have several working sub-committees, which will collectively develop the economic strategy and goals for the initiative. Sub-committees include: Labor Workforce Training, Government Relations, Business & Industry, Transportation & Infrastructure, Marketing, Amenities Visitors & Tourism, and Executive Labor Mentoring (ELM).

Committee members have been invited to participate in a committee orientation on June 19 & 20, where they will receive training on their specific role on the Eagle Pass Business & Economic Development Advisory Committee.

“We are really looking forward to working with this outstanding group of leaders and utilizing their skill sets, talents, and professional experience, says EMC President & CEO Ernie Gonzalez. “This is going to be a team effort and we are committed to supporting the Committee Chairman, Sub-Committee Chairs, and every Committee Member.”
