within the following weeks. This training will be offered to all emergency volunteers with the aim of improving their preparedness during disasters and mass emergencies.
“We’ve been working close with the American Red Cross for years now, and what we have in mind at the moment is a two part session training in shelter preparedness with a classroom session and an on-site mock exercise to prepare for different emergencies,”said Vielma. “We’ve had some extreme weather come our way in the past weeks and fortunately nothing has happened but it’s always good to have the preparation should something happen.”
Vielma stated that the emergency preparedness classes correlate with the county’s emergency management alert system used to notify the citizens who are signed up to the system of inclement weather.
Vielma emphasized the importance of emergency coordinated preparedness and invites the community to join the list of people on the Maverick County Emergency Alert Mass Notification System.
