On May 31, agents assigned to the Eagle Pass South Station immigration checkpoint on Highway 57 seized 7.9 pounds of methamphetamine, worth an estimated $252.800, from a 2003 Ford Explorer. The driver, 24, was arrested for narcotics smuggling and turned over to the custody of DEA for prosecution.
For Fiscal Year 2017, which began on Oct. 1, 2016, the Del Rio Border Patrol Sector has seized more than $9 million worth of narcotics. The Del Rio Border Patrol Sector is part of the South Texas Corridor, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations.
