Men’s Health Month is celebrated across the United States during June, with screenings, health fairs, and other health education and outreach events. These efforts aim to bring awareness to the importance of annual checkups among men.

Men, who statistically are less likely to seek regular medical treatment for disease and illnesses, are encouraged to take preventative health measures, not only during June, but throughout the year.

The most common illnesses among men in Maverick County include diabetes, cancer, issues related to the prostate, high blood pressure, cardio-pulmonary and respiratory diseases, high cholesterol levels, and obesity.

For any health related questions, please call and set up an appointment with a doctor. Medical services are available locally at United Medical Centers at 2525 N. Veterans Blvd. 830-773-5358; Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center at 3333 North Foster Maldonado Boulevard 830- 773-5321; or  Maverick County Hospital District Physician Specialty Clinic at 3406 Bob Rogers Drive 830- 773-4900.
