Eagle Pass City officials and administration joined Eagle Pass Fire Department and Emergency Services personnel on Wednesday, May 24, to celebrate EMS week which is held annually from May 21 to May 27.

Mayor Cantu presented the department with an official proclamation declaring the importance of the week as a token of the gratitude for each member of the EPFD.

“We thank you for all that you do for our community,” said Cantu.

He then read the proclamation and proceeded to congratulate all the EMS employees present during the ceremony.

Joining Mayor Cantu at the presentation were City Councilmen Luis Sifuentes and  Rudy Villalpando, and City Manager Arturo B. Rodriguez.

The theme for this year’s EMS week was Always In Service, to honor the sacrifices of each and every individual who is on call as an EMS worker on a daily basis.

EMS Week is an annual celebration and recognition of EMS providers. The American College of Emergency Physicians and the National Association of EMTs lead the national campaign and enlist the support of other state and national membership associations, vendors, and EMS agencies.
