Chief of Staff Ivan Morua said a safety switch had burned out, and they felt it was best to completely disconnect the power for safety reasons.
City Hall staff was dismissed at 4:00 p.m., and a crew was left to work on the problem. The $10,000 part that was needed is usually difficult to find, said Morua, but fortunately they were able to find one in San Antonio. City employees then traveled to San Antonio to retrieve the part, returning to Eagle Pass and finally finishing the job at 4:00 a.m.
City Hall opened as usual Tuesday morning.
