Zavala County police arrested 20-year-old Juan Mendoza after he shot up public housing at approximately 3:30 a.m.
According to Crystal City Chief of Police Jesse Lopez, Mendoza was walking through the neighborhood when he confronted a group of people.
“He was intoxicated, and I guess that group of people that he was passing by were having an after party, and he decided to brandish his weapon,” said Lopez. “They took it offensively and they all ran after him, so he turned around and started shooting everything.”
Lopez said only buildings and surrounding houses were hit, but no one was injured. Over fifteen casings from the semi-automatic hand gun were found.
Mendoza was arrested that morning, thanks to cooperation from neighbors, and was charged with two counts of deadly conduct.
Lopez said a similar incident occurred last month, however the case was taken over by the county.
