The event was put together by the MCHD and City of Eagle Pass, along with various organizations from the surrounding area.
Camino Real Community Services, Quad Counties Council, MCHD Ryan White Program, New Horizons, Better Futures Forever, Coalition to Combat Human Trafficking, and many other organizations provided information on alcoholism, drugs, peer pressure, teen pregnancy, teen dating violence and bullying.
The Better Future Youth Group assisted at the event as attendees enjoyed food and refreshments, games, a d.j., and live music performances from local youth Carlos De La Cerda and Karina Diaz.
Among the many issues that the MCHD Juntos Podemos Program has been tackling is bringing awareness to teen pregnancy to decrease the amount cases on a yearly basis. Maverick County has among the highest teen pregnancy rates across the United States.
JPP coordinator Marlen Ramirez thanked all those in attendance, as well as sponsors, and invited the youth of the community to join the Better Future Youth Group.
