Over 1,000 votes in school district tax ratification election

Only 1,111 people have exercised their right as U.S. citizens by voting in the Eagle Pass Independent School District Tax Ratification Election (TRE) during the early voting period. Early voting for this proposed tax

increase will end on Tuesday May 23rd at 5pm.
At this point in time only 4 % (1,067) of the approximate 29,700 registered voters have come out to vote.
The election polls were open this Saturday May 20th but only 151 people took advantage of the extra voting day.     
Voting will continue until May 23rd from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the City of Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center located at 400 S Adams St.
Election day will be on Saturday May 27 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the designated voting sites.
Election Day voting sites will be PCT. 1 A San Luis Elementary; PCT. 1B Fire Station No. 2; PCT 1C. Memorial Junior High; PCT 2A Benavides Heights Elementary; PCT. 2B San Luis Elementary; PCT2C Rosita Valley Elementary; PCT 2D El Indio Community Center;
PCT 3A Glass Elementary; PCT 3B Seco Mines Elementary; PCT 3C Quemado Community Center;  PCT 4A Maverick County Courthouse; PCT 4B Eagle Pass High School Girls Gym; PCT 4C Eagle Pass High School Girls Gym; and PCT 4D Henry B. Gonzalez Elementary.
The School District is proposing a 2.5 cent ad-valorem tax rate increase for the upcoming fiscal year. The proposed tax rate would increase from the current levied tax of $1.15543 per every $100 valuation, to $1.18043 per every $100 valuation.
