On Saturday, May 13 at approximately 5:56 a.m., Maverick County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to 3132 Tita St. in regards to an unwanted male subject.
The woman reported her boyfriend engaged in a verbal argument with her and then broke a window to her residence before pulling a kitchen knife and threatening her life. The subject left the scene prior to a unit’s arrival.
However, 33-year-old Victor Perez Jr. was exiting Las Quintas Boulevard and turned onto FM 1021 when Deputy Carlos Martinez noticed the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and attempted to catch up to it.
Martinez reported that he was traveling at about 100 mph and was still unable to catch up to the vehicle. He then lost visual of the vehicle, a black 2007 Mercedes BL 450, briefly before a cloud of dust cleared and he saw the vehicle on the side of the road.
Perez was located lying down in the grass, injured, next to the vehicle. EMS arrived to the location where Perez was then transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center in critical but stable condition, and was later flown to San Antonio via Air-Evac.
DPS was called to the location and took over the accident. Upon investigation, the Mercedes was traveling Eastbound on FM 1021 and attempted to conduct a left turn onto Wildwood Drive, but lost control of the vehicle striking a cement covert, causing the vehicle to go air-born and flip twice, ejecting the driver.
