In an unprecedented first playoff game at the EPISD Sports Complex, the Brandeis Broncos gave the crowd of 7,000 plus their money's worth with a level of football seen only on the television screens of the NCAA as Trinton Ynclan and Colbie Price put on a veritable clinic of rushing and passing with precision passing and power running as they bulldozed their way to the State Quarter finals with a 63-7 victory over 29-AAAAA powerhouse the Del Rio Rams.

The Broncos scored 35 first half points to secure the win in the third round of the Division II matchup behind Ynclan's 167 yards of rushing and some amazing pitches and catches between Price and Andrew Heft and from Brian Chapman who found Larry Stephens on a spectacular 49 yard deep out route in front of the visitor's side as the ball was thrown before Stephens cut on his route, the Del Rio defender all over him, but Chapman's pass was right on the money as the tall, lanky and fast receiver ran under it and took it into the endzone for the score to make the score 35-0 Brandeis.

Another highlight of this matchup was Ynclan's 58 yard touchdown run as he hurdled Del Rio defenders before turning on the jets en route to another Brandeis score with 5:23 remaining in the first half.

Ram scat back extraordinaire Gudelio Garza was held in check all night long with Broncos double teaming him and crushing Del Rio tackles caving in the pocket to where George Fernandez and the Rams having limited space to work, but in the third quarter, Garza broke off one of his signature runs sprinting 40 yards for the only Ram score of the game to the pleasure of 4,000 Queen City fans who made the trip and who up to this point had very little to cheer about.  An amazing reaction and a beautiful sight to see!

Tempers were flaring all night long as referees had to keep both teams in check especially in the second quarter when Ram standout Claudio Arizpe was ejected from the game for pushing a Brandeis player after a facemask call which all in attendance felt was an unjustified ejection and which had Del Rio coaches on the field trying to get justification on why Arizpe was ejected and the Brandeis player was not.

What was to follow would not make the situation any easier as the Broncos rushed for 345 yards behind the running of Ynclan and Peter Agu-Udemba, William Hughes and adam Cuellar as well as a spectacular 52 yard punt return for a TD by Kadarius Lee.  The Broncs also had 155 yards through the air to Del Rio's 174 yards rushing and only 16 yards passing.

The Broncos will square off with Steele next week for the Region IV Championship.
