Walmart donates $2,000 to Boys and Girls Club Drug Free League

The Boys and Girls Club Drug Free Basketball League recieved a much needed monetry donation from Wal Mart on Tuesday, May 2.  

   Alfonso Mallen, Director of the Boys and Girls Club, and  Luis Padilla who heads the drug free basketball league were joined by young athletes to receive a $2,000 check from Wal Mart Store Director Jesus Valencia and staff.

  The grant money provided by Wal Mart will be put to good use for the league, which is in its 7th year in Eagle Pass and has grown from a three team league to a 60 team league, including teams from Crystal City, Carrizo Springs, Del Rio and Piedras Negras, Coah.

   The Drug Free League counts on community members who donate their time, and the constant support from the Eagle Pass Independent School District which supports the league by providing  facilites for their games.

   The donation from Wal Mart allows this league to continue providing a positive outlet for local youth, as well as continuing the messeage of living a life that is drug free.
