During the second game, held on Saturday, C.C. Winn took the lead with a grand slam home run by Freshman Briana Soto in the bottom of the 6th inning, ending the game with a 12 to 9 score.
The young ladies of C.C. Winn took to social media after their victory and recorded a message through Facebook to their hometown after their win.
“Thank you Maverick Nation for supporting us back at home. We love you all,” said the C.C Winn Softball Team
The C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks Softball team and Maverick Nation now head to Laredo, Texas seeking to bring home the Texas U.I.L. Region IV, 5A Area Championship. They will be taking on the Corpus Chrisit Moody Trojans in a best of three series with game one to be played on May 5 at 7:00 p.m., with the second and possible third game scheduled for Saturday May 6 at 12:00 p.m. with game three to take place after an intermediate 30 minute break.
