From 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., dozens of groups of volunteers participated in the annual event that raises much needed funds for cancer research through the American Cancer Society. In total, the organizers and volunteer groups were able to raise approximately $21,000 for the American Cancer Society.   

Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey E. Cantu, who has been an organizer in the ACS fund raising event for years, thanked all those in attendance and the organizing committee and participants.

 “I take this time to thank the community for supporting the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. It is because of the numerous teams and sponsors that the event makes it possible to reach the ACS goal to end cancer by finding a cure, and assuring support services to cancer patients,” said Cantu. “God bless all our supporters and cancer survivors.”
