Officials report that they responded to the incident, and that the women who was on the ground got up and proceeded to get back into her vehicle which was parked on the side of the road. She then accelerated the vehicle and lost control eventually crashing into a fence in front of the Zavala County Detention Center.
Reports show that the women did not suffer any injuries from the accident. She will be submitted for evaluation at a mental health facility.
According to Texas Health Data, Dimmit County has had 16 suicides in the past 13 years. Texas Health Data shows that from 2004 to 2014 there were approximately 29,914 people who committed suicide in the State of Texas: 4,217 of those suicides were individuals between the ages of 15 to 24.
Recent records show that 46 suicides occurred in Maverick County from 1999 to 2016.
There were an estimated 26 self harm and suicide attempts that the Eagle Pass Fire Department responded to in 2016.
