Local Marine laid to rest

United States Marine Corps (USMC) Lance Corporal Juan Jose Alfaro “Tesanee Bearclaw Yuyutsu” was laid to rest in Eagle Pass, Texas on Sunday April 9, 2017 among his family and community after passing away on March 29, 2017 in Virginia where he was based. 

 

Lance Corporal Alfaro was only 24-years-old when he passed, and is survived by his wife who is expecting their first child, his Father Juan Alfaro and Mother Sonia Alfaro, his sister Hermila, and brothers Jesus, James, and Josiah. 

 

Alfaro was laid to rest at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Cemetery in Eagle Pass, Texas. His funeral was attended by a large group of community members who accompanied the Alfaro family during the solemn occasion.

 

A large group of people gathered on Friday, April 7, 2017 and escorted USMC Lance Corporal Juan Jose Alfaro's remains home as the convoy of vehicles which included members of the Veterans of Foreign War Post, among other veterans, police units from both law enforcement agencies, the Eagle Pass Fire Department, and many other community members. 

 

At around 9:30 pm the convoy made their way into town. Vehicles from all sides of the road stopped in their tracks to pay respect.

 

 

USMC Lance Corporal Juan Jose Alfaro was born in Eagle Pass, Texas and lived almost his entire life in the community, graduating from C.C. Winn High School in 2010 where he participated and excelled in various activities including the schools music program, as well as its Criminal Justice Leadership Program .
