In March 16, 2014, Blanco sustained severe head injuries after being attacked. He was found sitting, bleeding from his injuries and was immediately transported to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. His condition deteriorated and he succumbed to his injuries on Monday, March 17, 2014.

What is known about the case is that on the day of the attack the Corpus Christi Police Department received an emergency call from Blanco at approximately 9:48 P.M.  Corpus Christi Police arrived at the scene and began to render aid to Blanco, calling for EMT services to transport him to a hospital. 

Law enforcement investigators believe that Blanco was robbed and assaulted in the downtown Corpus Christi area causing him to lose his life. 

The Corpus Christi Police Department Homicide Division ruled the case a homicide after getting results from Blanco’s autopsy, but no further information or leads on the case have surfaced. 

An inquiry to get a newer update on the case was made by reaching out to Corpus Christi Police Department Homicide Division Detective R.L. Garcia, lead investigator in the case, but as of press time had not returned calls.
