In honor of SWTJC board of trustee and Crystal City native, the new addition will be named after Victor Lopez. Additionally, the campus will be named in honor of Dr. Antonio and Gloria Rivera, also of Crystal City.
Rivera has served as secretary of the college board of trustees since May 1998, while his wife, Gloria worked for the college for sixteen years and retired in 2003 as dean of instructional services.
Lopez has served as a member of the college board of trustees since May 2006. He currently owns and operates Lopez Health Systems based in Crystal City.
The new 3,821 square foot library building includes 24 computer workstations and two seminar rooms.
Construction of the $1.5 million state-of-the-art facilities began in May of 2016 and was completed earlier this month.
Local and area dignitaries scheduled to take part in the ceremony include Frank Moreno, Mayor of Crystal City; Tracy King, State Representative District 80; Joel Luna, Zavala County Judge, and Dr. Hector Gonzales, SWTJC President, along with other college administrators.
The community is cordially invited to attend the ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony of the new library building.
Following the program, refreshments will be served and guests will have the opportunity to tour the facilities.

A ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony will be held Friday, March 24 at 3:00 p.m. to officially dedicate the new library building at the Southwest Texas Junior College campus in Crystal City.
