6 Dead, 1 Wounded; Violence in PN continues

Yet another wave of violence has hit Piedras Negras over night as 6 people were killed and one seriously injured in two seperate incidents, amongst the injured was a family that was attacked in their home and two women and two men were found executed in a taxi on the old road to Zaragoza half a mile away from a highly populated area. After several days of apparent calm, the city of Piedras Negras was again shaken by violent events that continue to cause fear and concern in local residents.

According to the information released officially by the city of Piedras Negras, the victims who were attacked in their home resided in the Acoros sector near the street Mar de Cortes and were identified as Josefina Pruneda, 48 years old , her son Oscar Ignacio Pruneda Govea and her husband Ignacio Govea. There are many questions about how these events occurred and it is unclear how and why the family was attacked in the privacy of their own home. The woman died in the home and her son,19 years old, was taken to a hospital in Piedras Negras, while the father Ignacio Govea was reported in serious condition and was also treated at a hospital. Police authorities said that the family was apparently attacked at knife point, but draws attention to violence in which they were attacked. In another incident early Saturday at approximately 4:15 am, the Piedras Negras authorities received a report of four people killed inside a taxi, according to information the Public Ministry delegate has released to the media. The victims were two women and two men, the men were in the front seat and the women were found in the back seat of the taxi cab, according to authorities the taxi driver was one of those executed and was identified as Fabian Martinez, 35 years old. Piedras Negras has been affected by violent events and that is causing many people in Eagle Pass and other Texas cities to avoid crossing onto Mexican soil. Serious concerns continue to mount as more and more violence is seen in our neighboring city.
