The man who fled the scene after hitting another vehicle on Monday, March 13, leaving the other driver in the hospital, is now in custody.

Pedro Garcia, Jr. turned himself in to the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department Friday, March 17, and faces charges for a state felony.

The driver of a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu reported that she had been struck from behind by a 2009 grey Ford F-150, later found to be Garcia’s, which fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The driver was then transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for further medical treatment.

Garcia had previously been incarcerated for his involvement in a motor vehicle accident that ended in the death of one young boy  almost 12 years ago.
