On Friday, March 10, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Eagle Pass police officers responded to 496 South Bibb Street in reference to a possible intoxicated driver in a white 2002 Chevy truck. Officers spoke with a female in the vehicle and detected a strong odor of some type of aerosol chemical. The female displayed signs of intoxication and was discovered to have been inhaling from an aerosol hairspray can.
The female, identified as 24-year-old Alexandra Noriega was placed under arrest for possession and use of an inhalant and was further discovered to have two active municipal court warrants for her arrest which were served. Noriega was later presented before a magistrate where she was formally charged and remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $2,000 bond.
On Saturday, March 11 Eagle Pass police officers on patrol witnessed a fight in progress within the 300 block of Main Street. At 1:41 a.m., officers on the scene attempted to speak with one of the parties involved in the fight, and upon doing so, the male subject fled on foot. Officers then proceeded to chase the subject. The male, identified as 20-year-old Javier Jaime Martinez was detained and arrested by officers within the 300 block of Jefferson Street, and transported tot he Eagle Pass Police Department. Martinez was later presented before a magistrate where he was formally charged with evading arrest, and remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $4,000 bond.
An Eagle Pass police officer witness a blue Ford Mustang traveling the wrong way within the 500 block of Washington Street, a one-way street, on Sunday, March 12 around midnight. Upon attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver turned off the vehicle headlights and led officers on a pursuit through several city streets where he disregarded several traffic signs and almost caused a collision. The vehicle was finally stopped at the intersection of Bryan Street and Adolphus Street where the driver, 22-year-old Jaime Agustin Cardenas was taken into custody for evading arrest. Cardenas was later presented before a magistrate and remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
