The Eagle Pass High School Lady Eagle Basketball Program and its coaches are proud to announce the following individual awards for the 2016 - 2017 season.

District 29 6A Newcomer of the Year #14 Paula Hernandez (Freshman); First Team All-District #12 Sophie Rodriguez (Sophomore); Honorable Mentions #3 Jackie Sesatty (Senior) and #31 Bianette Rodriguez (Senior); All-Academic Team #21 Natalia Gonzalez (Senior) and #3 Jackie Sesatty (Senior).

“Paula Hernandez was voted newcomer of the year in our district, and that’s a prestigious award,” said Head Coach Ruben Besa. “The district votes on five individual prestigious awards, MVP, sixth man of the year, defensive player of the year, offensive player of the year, and then newcomer of the year. It’s got to be a freshman or a sophomore with no varsity experience, and so for us that’s a really big deal because we’ve never had that as far as I can remember. I don’t think the girls had ever had one of those prestigious awards, so we’re really happy for Paula.”

Recognitions for the EPHS Lady Eagle Basketball team didn’t stop there.

“Sophie Rodriguez was voted first team all-district so we’re really proud of Sophie. Then we have two honorable mentions, Bianette Rodriguez and Jackie Sesatty. Our other award was Natalia Gonzalez who was  all academic for our district,” said Coach Besa.

The Eagle Pass High basketball program would like to congratulate these five outstanding individuals for their hard work and dedication.
