Staff reports-

A 22-year-old Eagle Pass man was arrested on Saturday after causing a car accident at the intersection of Ferry and Ceylon street and then attempted to flee leading police officers on a chase through several local streets that ended on Ferry St. and Avenue B.

According to reports, police officers were informed of a 2000 Suzuki Grand Vitara fleeing the scene of the accident and spotted the vehicle traveling northbound on Webster St. The officers initiated a traffic stop by means of activating emergency lights and sirens, but the driver failed to stop and led officers on a potentially dangerous chase through residential areas.

The 22 year-old driver was identified as Ramon Alberto Salinas, who was arrested on charges of causing an accident and fleeing the scene of an accident, in addition to resisting arrest with a vehicle.  Salinas was remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a combined bond of $106,000.

Fortunately there were no police officers or bystanders who were seriously injured during the chase.
