Juan Enrique Rodriguez Ruiz found guilty of murdering wife, sentenced to 55 years

On February 21, 2017, a Maverick County Jury was selected to hear the murder case against Defendant Juan Enrique Rodriguez Ruiz for the murder of his wife Maria Pesina Molina Rodriguez.

This murder occurred on December 24, 2015. On February 24, 2017, the jury came back with a verdict of guilty and assessed punishment at 55 years in prison and a $10,000.00 fine.

District Attorney, Roberto Serna, would like to congratulate his assistants Robert Lee Little and Rene R. Munoz as well as the Eagle Pass Police Department, and the Texas Rangers for their work in this case that led to this conviction and punishment. District Attorney, Roberto Serna, further stated that this type of domestic violence will not be tolerated and that the defendants who commit these offenses will be severely punished.

The 365 Maverick County District Court, under Judge Amado Abascal, commenced the murder trial on Tuesday, February 21, 2017.

Records show that Pecina Rodriguez was shot in the head by Rodriguez Ruiz on December 24, 2015, at her residence in the 300 Block of Church Street in Eagle Pass, Texas in a family violence incident.

Rodriguez Ruiz was arrested and charged with homicide by the Eagle Pass Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Texas Rangers, and has been incarcerated since the day of his arrest. 

 Pecina Rodriguez left behind seven children.

  Juan E. Rodríguez Ruiz, de 51 años, acusado del asesinato de su esposa, Maria Pecina Rodríguez, de 42, ha sido declarado culpable después de enfrentarse a un jurado en la Corte de Distrito 365 de el Honorable Juez Amado Abascal.

   Rodríguez Ruiz ha sido condenado a 55 años de prisión con una multa de $10,000.

 Durante el primer día se seleccionó un jurado y el miércoles comenzó el juicio con comentarios de apertura y testimonios de testigos, incluidos policías, investigadores, detectives y bomberos que estuvieron involucrados en el incidente el 24 de diciembre  del año 2015.

  Los registros muestran que Rodríguez, de 42 años, habia recibido disparado en la cabeza por su esposo, Juan E. Rodríguez Ruiz, de 51 años, en vísperas de Navidad el 24 de diciembre de 2015 en su residencia en la cuadra 300 de Church Street en Eagle Pass,  en un incidente de violencia doméstica / familiar.

   Rodríguez Ruiz fue arrestado y acusado del homicidio por el Departamento de Policía y Texas Rangers del Departamento de Seguridad Pública y ha estado encarcelado desde el día de su detención.

   María Pesina Rodríguez dejó a siete hijos.
