Rodriguez was honored with a signing ceremony in which EPHS Principal John Cox, EPHS Head Football Coach Tom Gonzalez, and his parents spoke about his accomplishments.
Cox commented on the kind of person Rodriguez is.
“He has never shown me anything but being an excellently raised young man. I’m so proud of him, proud of what this team is achieving, and it just goes to show you what commitment and heart can do,” said Cox.
Coaches also had nothing but praise for Rodriguez.
“It’s been a great honor coaching Adrian for several years and we’re really proud of him. Congratulations to his parents, you did a great job with him,” said Coach Gonzalez. “During his career in high school, he was a four year letterman, he’s a two year starter and offensive tackle, a captain, and he was all district this year. He’s going to make us proud and we’re going to miss him big time next year. The younger guys have some big shoes to fill.”
His parents thanked everyone that supported their son through out his athletic career.
“Thanks for all of you being here, thank you to the administration here at the school, the coaching staff,” said his father Carlos Rodriguez. “Four years flew by, and I just want to personally thank you for taking my little boy and showing him the right way to do things. That goes for everybody here administration, staff, coaching staff, you’ll always have our support.”
“i want to thank god for the opportunity, for the talent, and for allowing us to watch our son play. Thank the coaches for teaching life lessons,” said his mother Myrna Rodriguez.
Rodriguez also thanked everyone before signing the letter officially making him a Sul Ross State Lobo.
“I want to thank everyone for coming, I want to thank my parents for always being there for me, supporting me, I love you all,” said Rodriguez. “I want to thank the Coaches Gonzalez, Coach Navejas, Coach Cardenas, my position coaches. They’ve taught me how to be the best player ever.”
