Approximately 30 community members attended the event, explained their careers, and answered questions from students. Presenters were treated to breakfast before beginning several sessions throughout the day.
A wide variety of professionals participated in career day, including teachers, pharmacists, probation officers, social workers, bankers, engineers, architects, attorneys, and US Marshals.
“Our career day was a special and successful event. We are grateful to all of the community members that joined us in providing our students with the unique perspective of what their jobs and careers entail. Serving our community is both a responsibility and an honor. Our community members indeed carry this out every day and we deeply appreciate their contributions to our community and to Sam Houston Elementary,” said Sam Houston Elementary Principal Amalia Riojas. “We want to send a special thank you to both Eagle Pass High School and CC Winn High School for their support on this day, and for having students share their own experiences with the various programs available at the high schools. Our Cougars will be them in a few years. Thank you Sam Houston Staff; Ms. Vasquez, counselor, thank you for coordinating this event.
