According to Eagle Pass Police Department Public Information Officer Humberto Garza, Police Officers responded to the Beall's department store in reference to a theft on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at approximately 11 :38 AM.
Investigating officers spoke with store personnel who informed officers of a male subject wearing a red hoody type sweater and blue jeans who exited the store without making any attempt to pay for five pairs of shoes.
The incident was captured on the store surveillance where officers recognized the male subject as 42-year-old Armando Espinoza. Espinoza was later located and arrested, formally charged with theft, and remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $2000 bond.
